Deathcember movie website.

Deathcember is an anthology horror film consisting of 24 shorts (plus 3 bonus shorts) that are all related to Christmas and directed by rising or legendary directors all over the world and in the horror scene. The animated sequences connecting these shorts take inspiration from the Advent Calendars (used to help build up anticipation for Christmas day) and were the main reason for the Deathcember Kickstarter campaign.
In 2019, the producers of Deathcember came to Kickstarter in the hopes of raising 12,000 euros ($14,309 in American dollars) to help cover the production costs of animating the frame story (the shorts themselves were already funded) and ended up surpassing the goal with 13,081 euros. These rewards consisted of rewards like shoutouts, to digital downloads, to blu-ray media books, to having a credit at the end of the film amongst many rewards. The campaign link is below.
The film then started to play at festivals beginning in October of 2019 and gained attention from a few horror themed websites like Dread Central and Bloody Flick UK. Festival appearances became limited throughout most of 2020 due to a certain worldwide event (which I will not mention). Still, distribution rights for Deathcember were eventually sold around the world (Shout Factory picked up US rights) and on November 24, 2020, Deathcember was officially released to most of the public.
I pledged at the personal Jebus level back in 2019. During the Kickstarter campaign, a mediabook was offered where it would come with exclusive bonus features that were not available in the general blu ray release in some countries (Canada and Germany got physical releases but not U.S yet). The personal Jebus level offered a special mediabook with more bonus features and a personalized intro not available on even the regular mediabook. The main reason why I backed this project though was because of the promising lineup of directors and a terrific idea of an anthology horror film based on the Christmas advent calendars.
I received a link to the digital download and have watched the film a few times since. My review of the film can be found on the next post. Regardless of what my thoughts are of the film, I want to take a moment to commend everyone involved.
Films take a lot of hard work and dedication plus with anthology films, the shorts generally have to share the same theme and added with the challenges of not just this year but with independent films in general, everyone involved should be proud of what they have accomplished in terms of production and distribution.
When I receive my mediabook (early next year), I will do another post, this time reviewing the bonus features and the mediabook itself. I also plan on doing a few additional deathcember related posts where needed. Finally, I will put down at the bottom of the page a few links of where to rent or purchase deathcember. Have a happy deathcember and please do stay safe.

Edit: Witter Entertainment and Broke Horror Fan have teamed up with Shout Factory and the producers of Deathcember to make 50 limited edition copies of Deathcember on VHS! The link to nab one of these is below though they might be sold out by the time this blog gets published and publicized. I plan to do a post about the VHS release once I received it in the mail.
